Hike Club

Our first hike of the newly formed Hike Club took place in June. Bobby and his son Parker planned our first hike along the river. We had a great turn out for our first event. The club hiked for 4 miles and not one complaint from the Cub Scouts.

Along the way we stopped at some interesting sights. At this view point you can see how high the river is from all of our summer storms. In fact our original hike had to be moved because the trail was washed out.

The boys found a lovely turtle on our path. And they all practiced the Outdoor Code as they looked, but did not touch or pick up the turtle. Later on the path we found a turtle nest where there were a bunch of hatched eggs. I thought that was the coolest find of the day.

At the end of the hike, the scouts were presented with their hiking sticks and made a paracord handle for it. They all earned their first hiking bead to adorn their stick. If you want to learn more about our hiking club, check out the Hike Club page on our website.
